OperaFest LA returned in April and May 2026, continuing its collaborative celebration of opera across Los Angeles. First launched in 2024 alongside the OPERA America Conference and World Opera Forum, the festival spotlights the city’s rich and diverse opera landscape. OperaFest LA brought together 9 partner organizations, featuring 22 productions by Beth Morrison Projects, LA Opera, Long Beach Opera, Overtone Industries, REDCAT, Synchromy, The Industry, The Wallis, and USC Thornton School of Music, and highlighted the remarkable breadth of operatic work being created throughout LA county.
As Los Angeles prepares to welcome the world for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, OperaFest LA will return and contribute to the cultural legacy of LA28 by highlighting the extraordinary range of opera and music-theatre being created throughout the county. Through collaboration among leading opera companies, presenting organizations, educational institutions, and independent producers, OperaFest LA 2028 will contribute to amplifying Los Angeles’ role as a global center for artistic creativity in the world. Stay tuned for exciting new initiatives including a hub for all partner companies to showcase the works of extraordinary talents throughout the Cultural Olympiad.
